Hi Fred & Crew,
When Sako came out with their 6PPC I got my brother one of the first 200 rifles that hit our shores. He put a Leupold 36x scope on it and shot factory ammo since no one could handload to beat it. Boy would it shoot!
I couldn't compete monetarily with him, but I HAD to have an accurate rifle. I called Fred! He set me up with a 6mm Bullberry Improved Contender barrel as thick as he could make it and I bought a medium grade buttstock and forend for it (unfinished). I got dies from Fred too and the brass was easy. While by brother paid a dollar a round I bought 30-30 in bulk, cheap. I slapped a scope on it and started working up a load. This was difficult because everything shot well. I needed that one load that would be the PPC and I finally found it! My brother and I had a little competition; my hands or his.THE BULLBERRY WON! It was fantastic! And I had (or Fred had) done it! It immediately got a scope worthy of its accuracy and I had saved tons of money!
In Texas, dove season opener is like deer season opener elsewhere in the country. Big barbeques, lots of old friends getting together, and doves dipping and diving at every shot.
That was years ago. My brother was killed near Christmas of 2004 so I quit going to the dove season opener. Here in Indiana dove season just ain't the same. All the birds have already left by the time the season rolls around. I had to come up with a replacement and I did. I'd wait until they'd take the corn out and I'd go for crows. With the 6mm Bullberry Improved you would not believe some of the shots I've made. Shots at 300 yards are a cinch.
Before this barrel, and especially since, I've bought several more barrels from you. I've lost track but it's around 9 or 10 and mostly for shooting silhouettes. Thank you for your advice and all your great products.
