Mike's Namibian Safari
This was my first trip to Namibia and the hunting was great! I took my T/C Encore frame, which had a crisp, clean trigger job done by Bullberry. To that I matched your 300 Win. Mag. barrel with an integral brake. This combination allowed me to kill several African animals with one shot.
I killed a springbok in the open plains at 275 yards. Then I took a gembok and common impala in the open, around 150 yards.
Later I killed a zebra and a kudu in the brush around 75 - 100 yards. All kills were done with one shot and we were able to see the animals fall dead within a few yards.
I hunt in the Texas hill country using a 30-06 Bullberry barrel, and just love this short barrel gun. It allows me to move quickly and effortlessly around in the box blinds. I have taken numerous deer at 250 to 350 yards.
The accuracy of the gun is outstanding, and I have a 260 Remington barrel with an integral barke on order. In 2009 I hope to go to South Africa to hunt buffalo. I plan on ordering a new barrel either a 375 H&H Mag or a 416 Rigby with an integral brake.
