Matthew's Indiana Buck
Opening morning I had some bad luck. I took 9 shots and missed 5 deer, finding out later that the scope the me and my father put on 3 days before opening morning of firearms season was faulty and moved every time I took a shot. So that night we put on the original scope. The next morning I set up under a tree that was overlooking a food plot and I didn't see a deer all day. It was getting dark. I decided to call it a day and walk back around the food plot which turned out to be a good thing.
As I was walking up the hill I turned my head slightly to see the silhouette of this 9-point buck. The image in my mind is like one of a background on a computer with the sunset and all. I carefully took my G2 Contender Bullberry 445 Super Mag off from around my neck and laid it on my walking stick. This buck was frozen broadside at about 50 yards away. I put the crosshairs right behind his shoulder and BANG! He ran about 75 yards and fell right inside the wood line. Following the blood trail was very difficult because I managed to hit a lung and there was not a lot of blood. I was up on top of a very big hill and it had rained the day before so we could not drive up the hill. We had to drag the 200 pound+ deer half a mile before we could put it in the truck. Talk about a work out!
