Nick McCammon

It was about 5:00 on opening
day and the sun was setting low. Then out of the bottom comes this deer.
He was in a hurry. I reached down and grabbed the grip of my Contender
and brought it up to look. I saw large horns. That was all I
needed to see. I found the front shoulder and gave a whistle. The deer
stopped at about 40 yds as I settled my aim behind the front shoulder.
BOOM.
The deer kicked, went
down, and then hopped right back up. But he didn't get 30 yds away
and it was over. I walked down and immediately took the picture you
see here.
You can't go wrong with
a 6mm Bullberry. I used Sierra SSP 80 gr. bullets and put a hurting
on that buck.
The 6mm Bullberry is efficient
and really mild on report and recoil. It's a great coyote and chuck
rifle too. I can't say enough about the 6mm Bullberry. Quality throughout.
Now getting him up that
hill through that logged out ridge side was a different story. Anyone
who has ever had to do this alone will know what I am talking about.
It is some kind of work. Real hard with big antlers. Worth every minute
of it.
